Elizabeth & Jack
a whimsical church wedding
Durham, NC
Elizabeth and Jack met while at UNCW, through Jack's sister. They went on to be Fuge camp counselors together during the summer, and formed a friendship until they eventually started dating! He proposed during a romantic sunset beach walk: one of their favorite things to do together. They also share a love of the outdoors, sports, fun, and Jesus! Their love for each other is pure, deep, and sentimental.
Their wedding day took place at Elizabeth's home church, Christ the King. The reception was held under a big tent on the lawn, and the whole vibe was whimsical with florals, pastels, and candles. It had all the charm of a home-town backyard wedding: family and friends all came together to make food, desserts, floral arrangements, and more. It was a beautiful and sentimental day.
Before the ceremony, the couple prayed together during their first touch around the corner of the building. Elizabeth and Jack were so excited to be married, and their joy was contagious. The ceremony was a delight to witness, especially their shared looks of happiness and longing as Elizabeth walked down the aisle.
The reception was so dreamy. The sun set beautifully over the tent after the ceremony was over. Guests were playing yard games and enjoying food. The dancing kicked off with a very eager bride running to do the Cotton Eyed Joe, and came to an energetic climax when Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift came on. After much dancing, laughing, many loved ones shared memories and kind words for the couple in the candlelit tent. Then it was time for us to say goodbye to one of the sweetest days I've captured yet.
Elizabeth and Jack were a special couple to photograph because I've know Elizabeth since before they were dating. I remember when Elizabeth had a hunch that he would propose soon, she made a point to tell me she wanted me to be the one to photograph their wedding day. What an honor! I'm so glad it worked out, because there is something extra special about capturing moments for people you know and love.
Cheers to the Harrises!
