Honeymooning in Asheville

After being married on October 25th, my new husband and I drove across the state to spend a week in the mountains. We stayed at the Biltmore Estate, just a few minutes from downtown Asheville. Above, you can see our view each morning. It was sweet to get a taste of chilly weather while we adjusted to our new lives as a married couple.

While on the estate, we got to tour the Biltmore house, explore the gardens, walk through the winery, and try some of the restaurants. Some days we went into town to shop, eat, and explore. The lifestyle we experienced there was certainly different from what we are used to, but it was fun to share it together.

One of the tours we did was a wine and chocolate tasting/class. We paired different chocolates with wine while an instructor told us about the wine-making process. We also learned why and how to swirl our wine before we drank it, which, like I said, is a different lifestyle than we are used to.

Another tour we did while on the estate was the rooftop tour of the Biltmore house. I highly recommend this one, as it is more private, and more affordable than the regular house tour. On the tour, we got to see the upper levels of the house, which included the observatory and the servants' quarters. We also got to step onto the roof and look into the attic! And to top it all off, once the tour was done, the tour guide let us walk through the rest of the house on our own self-guided tour.

These past few weeks as a new wife have been so sweet. Getting to experience the full love of my husband is a gift I truly did not think I would ever have. The honeymoon was the beginning of our marriage, but we are looking forward even more to the regular, everyday life we get to share together. I am overflowing with gratitude in this season. God is so faithful and gracious to us.
